The word would have no meaning if they were not meant to mean something. Like sounds, they are random vocal interpretations of a feeling or an emotion or just a funny sound.
The making of words created an opportunity for us to communicate and make a choice between a yes and a no. To do or not to do!
But will it be the same tomorrow?
The point is that we think we are in control of our environment and we are able to make decisions about our daily lives and we have the opportunity of choice. Or do we?
The truth is that with the world moving towards the digital space and allowing cookies and trackers to assess your actions. Post the assessment, they are then predicting to a high degree of certainty, understand what would be your next move and offer you options in viewing, buying or selling or the food you would like. Artificial Intelligence along with Machine learning in a blockchain environment is able to assess your next move and make it for you.
The result is quite astonishing, you would not have to worry of cooking food, washing your clothes, clearing the trash, cleaning the house or even yet driving to your destination.
What is happening around us?
Technology is slowly taking over our mind and the change is happening. We are allowed to live a life without a choice or opportunity to make a decision from the trivial littleness to the major decisions of whom we should marry and remain in the marriage.
While on the face of it, it seems like the water is without ripples, the underlying current is making the surface seem like a mirage. The mind needs challenges for it to function to its optimum level when these challenges are reduced our brain stops is routine functioning and loses interest in some of natural instincts.
Let’s take the way our senses have reduced in the past 200 years since we have stopped in living forest and fighting for our survival, now we have mental disorders, obesity and various lifestyle diseases that did not exist in the previous period. This is not because of the advancement of technology but the fact that the brain has less to work on and things are more willingly available without a struggle or a challenge.
Our lives were made to face the challenges of survival and then to flourish, but instead what we are doing is getting comfortable in the place away from stress and disaster. We are not able to face difficult situations and take it on our stride, challenges seem too much and decisions are getting tougher.
In a recent event, while I was shopping in my neighbourhood grocery store. A lady was choosing wheat flour not based on the quality of the product but on the brand value!
What it tells me is that the person is not worried about the quality of the product as long as they look good in the eyes of the community that they are buying a branded product. The sellers may or may not maintain the quality of the product or have chemicals induced to make it taste better. The choice made of the brand may or may not be based on past experience (she was asking the shopkeeper for his reviews) and she would have been influenced by an advertisement or promotion or kitty party talk that would have influenced her to believe the given product was of superior quality to the other brands or may just be a religious association (India is with some really extreme thinking people)
I wonder if there is a plant with a brand to be grown!
I would be fortunate to live a life where fruits and vegetables would not be sold under a brand and without a brand would be considered unsafe and unhygienic. The choice of food would not be then determined on our likes but software that would predict what we like and how it can benefit our current diet plan or exercise routine.
Eventually, mental disorders will be the most common disease in each individual and we will be situated at the fulcrum of a breakdown and serenity. One minute serene and the other a mental breakdown. A modified Bipolar disorder
We need to keep the decision-making process in our domain and make smaller decisions, maybe for the larger decisions a software can be used to make the choice for us or we can just use the traditional method of facing the decision demon with our gut instinct!
